Deadline : 15 October 2019
The internships in Australia initiative allows French students to do a research internship in an Australian university, in collaboration with a French company present in Australia. It is launched following the agreements signed by the Embassy with Naval Group, Thales and several Australian universities during the visit to Australia of French Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation Frederique Vidal.
The internships in Australia initiative involves the following partners:
Group of Eight (ANU, Monash, UofAdelaide, UniMelb, UNSW, UQ, UniSydney, UWA)
University of South Australia
Students from all French universities and « Grandes Ecoles » can apply. However internship topic proposals can target specific French preferred partner institutions.
The objectives of the “Internships in France” initiative are to:
Balance student mobility between France and Australia through a program based on reciprocity
Offer to students from France an opportunity to discover the Australian research environment and interact with French companies in Australia.
Strengthen student mobility within French-Australian scientific collaborations; initiate longer-term collaborations (cotutelle theses, CIFRE theses) through student stays
Contribute to the interaction between the Australian university sector and the industry sector.
The company (Thales or Naval Group) provides a grant to finance the cost of return travel to Australia.
The host university in Australia provides the intern with a monthly stipend (as a minimum, equivalent to the internship stipend provided to Australian students doing an internship in France, - currently about €560/AUD889, subject to change according to current internship laws in effect).
The home university in France is encouraged to provide the Laureate with an additional grant to help cover their daily costs during their stay in Australia (€1600).
