Follow-up on a night of Philosophy and AI at Alliance française Sydney
In December 2024, AFRAN partnered with the monthly Philo Bistro conference held at Alliance française de Sydney to discuss AI and Philosophy. The event was hosted by Olivier Vojetta, recipient of the 2024 French-Australian Excellence Awards.
The event started with a quick introduction on what AI is and isn't, by Sarah Vallee, AFRAN AI Community Lead. Then, Paul Egré, Research Director at IRL Crossing – French-Australian joint lab on human machine interaction – and Raphaël Millière, Assistant Professor in Philosophy of Artificial Intelligence at Macquarie University, both presented their vision of what it means to be human in an AI world.
Followed discussion with the audience, who raised questions around the environmental impact of AI and the future of work. Important questions that will also be addressed at the upcoming AI Action Summit hosted by France, in Paris, on 10-11 February 2025.
