Jean-Philippe Ral
JP is currently a Principal Research scientist and Team Leader in the Cereal Quality group at CSIRO Agriculture and Food. He received a PhD from the University of Science and Technologies of Lille in France and his thesis research in Pr Steven Ball’s lab involved reverse genetic approach and circadian rhythm study on starch biosynthesis in Unicellular green algae such as Chlamydomonas reinhardtii and Ostreococcus tauri. JP joined the CSIRO Plant industry in 2005 as Post-doctoral fellow to work on starch phosphorylation in Wheat with Dr Matthew Morell. During the past 6 years, his research interest has expanded to investigate broader aspects of cereal starch degradation during grain development and germination and how crops deal with energy partitioning between starch, non-starch polysaccharide and oil. He has particular interest in Late Maturity alpha-amylase (LMA) and Pre harvest Sprouting (PHS).

Sergio Nombreuse
Sergio is a PhD student at RMIT in Media and Communications. He works full-time as a Program Manager for Commonwealth Superannuation Corporation. Sergio is also volunteer as a Fire Fighter in ACT rural fire service and ACT representative for the Australian-Aotearoa New Zealand Communication Association.
