Eliot Hanrio
Eliot is an environmental scientist at EHS support since 2025. He is a researcher specialising in marine biology, aquatic health, and environmental science. After completing studies in France and Australia, including a PhD at the University of Western Australia, he developed expertise in molecular diagnostics, marine microbiology, and aquatic immunology. His research has explored the impacts of climate change on marine organisms, pathogen detection in shellfish, and the microbiome of Murujuga rock formations. Eliot has also worked with the Western Australian Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, combining scientific research with biosecurity, field operations, stakeholder engagement, and environmental management.
Mark Briskey
Mark is an Associate Professor of Criminology and Principal Fellow at the Murdoch Indo-Pacific Research Centre. His research focuses on extremism, criminal intelligence, counterterrorism, and security across the Indo-Pacific, with particular expertise in South Asia. A member of the South Asian Studies Association of Australia and the British Society of Criminology, he combines academic research with extensive experience in criminal justice, intelligence, and capacity building.
Nico Fassbender
Nico is a PhD candidate at the University of Western Australia researching shark ecology and coral reef resilience under climate change. His work combines acoustic tracking, habitat mapping, and ecological monitoring to understand how changing reef environments affect shark behaviour. Having worked on coral reefs across the Indian Ocean, including in the Seychelles, Nico collaborates with conservation organisations to support research on marine biodiversity and climate resilience.
Sally Knowles
Sally supports international postgraduate and sponsored doctoral students at Murdoch University. With more than 17 years of experience in research development, academic writing, and higher education, she is passionate about fostering inclusive research cultures and vibrant writing communities. She has facilitated over 50 academic writing retreats across Australian universities and was awarded the Edith Cowan University Vice-Chancellor’s Award for her leadership in improving research writing and publication outcomes. Sally’s interests include doctoral education, interdisciplinary collaboration, research performance, and the role of creative and performing arts in enriching research practice and academic writing.
