About The Event
Discriminations have always existed in human societies, and even if they are not institutional anymore, they still fuel our bias and create inequalities. Despite a current effort to restore the stories of minorities or discriminated people, there is still much to do in order to change our ways of living together.
Today, we are at a turning point. Environmental degradations, global pandemics, geopolitical tensions in Europe and in the Indo-Pacific region are examples of growing instabilities that enhance and deepen discriminations and inequalities. They also question our current lifestyles and socio-economical models based on the exploitation of more and more resources. The resulting environmental crisis reveals the harm we are doing to human and nonhuman lives.
Building a fairer society that remedy those issues implies to held powerful elites accountable, and to distribute power more fairly. The multiplication of communication channels has empowered citizens with a way to have more impact collectively – but will that be enough?
This night of ideas asks: are the current crisis sharpening our view of inequalities? Do we continue to be blind to particular forms of disadvantage? What kinds of change are needed to secure a truly fair and egalitarian world? And much more.
