MAT VANDERKLIFT
Mat is a scientist within CSIRO Environment and director of the IORA Blue Carbon Hub. His research seeks to enhance our understanding of blue carbon ecosystems and improve the frameworks in which they are managed. He has published on the science of blue carbon and the relevance of international governance and finance frameworks to operationalise blue carbon into climate mitigation and adaptation. He has 25 years of research experience on understanding the factors which control plant growth, and their responses to the way that humans use them in the Indian Ocean, as well as in the Mediterranean and Caribbean Seas.
OCEANE ATTLAN
Oceane is a marine biologist interested in seaweed and fish ecology, community analysis and environmental restoration. She is currently a Ph.D candidate at the University of Western Australia in Perth.
Oceane is a certified scientific diver both in France (Class 1B) and Australia (ADAS restricted part 1), which provides her opportunities to conduct her own field trips for research purposes.

MATHIEU DAVID
Initially a general engineer for industry, Mathieu has reoriented his career towards sustainable development to be in line with his personal convictions. After obtaining a PhD in “energy and meteorology”, he has co-founded and then managed an engineering consultancy working in the energy, acoustics and environment sectors. Since 2010, Mathieu has been a lecturer at ESIROI, in the Building and Energy specialization.
His wish is that the engineers who graduate from ESIROI will participate in the energy and ecological transition of La Reunion economy. With this in mind, he teaches to promote innovative design methods and encourage his students to think ethically about their future actions and commitments. He is also a researcher in the PIMENT laboratory (Physics and Mathematical Engineering for Energy, the Environment and Buildings).
