How is French taught, learnt, experienced and reimagined across the Pacific?

A new edited volume, Stories from the Pacific: Teaching and Learning French, invites contributions from researchers, educators, learners and community members to explore the diverse realities of French language education in Pacific contexts. The volume seeks to amplify the voices, experiences and trajectories that shape what the editors describe as "Pacific French".

The book will explore themes including:

🔹 Why teach or learn French in the Pacific?

🔹 How are pedagogical approaches adapted to Pacific realities?

🔹 How do personal, professional and cultural journeys influence engagement with French language education?

The editors particularly welcome reflective, collaborative and interdisciplinary contributions that connect language, identity, education and lived experience across the region.

📝 Abstracts (400–600 words) due: 1 July 2026📚

Proposed publisher: Liverpool University Press – Contemporary French and Francophone Cultures series

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a landmark publication highlighting the richness and diversity of French language education across the Pacific.
