Symposium on Bilingualism and multilingualism in times of change, diversity and opportunity - Call f

16 May 2019, University of South Australia

The interest for bilingualism or multilingualism has never been higher in Australia than it has been this past couple of years. Bilingual programs in Australian schools are booming, especially including French-English programs. Language teaching and education need to take into account the new challenges of a connected world.

Focusing on the benefits of bilingualism and multilingualism on social, linguistic and cognitive skills (behaviors, creativity, and openness), the Symposium on Bilingualism and multilingualism in times of change, diversity and opportunity aims at initiating a dialogue that widens the focus on these debates. In this symposium, we propose to bring fresh perspectives on bilingual and multilingual education, focusing on the role of multilingualism as a 21st century reality and priority for “bien vivre – ensemble”.
