AFRAN AGM 2023

AFRAN invites all members to participate in the 32nd Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Association, which will take place at the conclusion of the 2023 AFRAN Forum in Perth.



The AGM will be held 4.15p (Perth time) on 27 October 2023 at Murdoch University and online.

Election of the 2024 AFRAN Executive Committee


Nominations are now open to join the 2024 AFRAN Executive Committee. Joining the committee is an opportunity to take an active role in shaping the direction and initiatives of AFRAN, and connect with engaged peers and colleagues in Australia, the Indopacific region and France.


The Executive Committee must consist of no less than five and no more than fifteen elected members. The newly established Committee will elect the following office bearers from among its members:


(a)   President;

(b)   Vice-President;

(c)   Treasurer;

(d)   Secretary;

(e)   Assistant Secretary; and

(f)   Public Officer.


Please confirm whether you would like to nominate to join the Committee by 24 October via email to afran.org@gmail.com


You do not need to attend the AGM to nominate. Should you wish to nominate for a specific office bearer role, please let us know in your email.


Change of the AFRAN constitution: we seek your approval:


The AFRAN board is willing to simplify financial transactions, with the following change :


Previous constitution item

(4) Financial instruments drawing money from the Association’s account shall at all times be jointly signed on behalf of the Association by two members, being either the Treasurer and/or the President; or, in the absence of either of these officers, one other member of the Executive Committee authorised by the Executive Committee and recognised by the bank as an authorised signatory.

Proposed updated item

(4) Financial instruments drawing money from the Association’s account shall at all times be signed on behalf of the Association by either the Treasurer or the President; or, in the absence of both of these officers, one other member of the Executive Committee authorized by the Executive Committee and recognized by the bank as an authorized signatory. Transactions over $200 must be approved in writing prior to drawing or receiving money as either part of an Executive Committee approved budget line, or by two Officers of the Executive Committee.
