🌏 Call for Applications — AFRAN Youth Engagement Leadership Program 2026

Are you passionate about strengthening ties between France and Australia? Do you want to play a role in shaping the next generation of international collaboration in education, research, and innovation?

The Embassy of France to Australia, in partnership with AFRAN Inc. (the Australian–French Association for Research and Innovation) and Campus France Australia, is seeking new Youth Engagement Leaders for 2026!

🔹 About the Program

The AFRAN Youth Engagement Leadership Program, being the natural evolution of our AFRAN Alumni community, is a unique initiative designed to empower young students, researchers, and professionals who want to engage with the French–Australian community and promote academic, scientific, and cultural cooperation between the two countries — and across the Pacific and Indian Oceans.

Youth Engagement Leaders act as student ambassadors, building bridges between universities, researchers, and students in both nations. They contribute to AFRAN’s dynamic volunteer network, which promotes collaboration across scientific communities in areas such as energy, climate, health, agriculture, humanities, digital sciences, and more.

Leaders receive support from the Embassy of France to Australia, Campus France Australia, France Alumni, and the AFRAN network.

🔹 What You’ll Do

As a Youth Engagement Leader, you will:

  • Connect AFRAN with your local university community and promote study and research opportunities in France.

  • Organise events and networking activities (panels, meetups, information sessions).

  • Collaborate with local partners such as Alliances Françaises, Consulates, and university clubs.

  • Represent AFRAN and Campus France at events such as the Exchange Fair Circuit and French Day on Campus.

  • Share information on social media and within your networks about studying in France and joining France Alumni.

This is a volunteer role, with a small event budget provided by AFRAN. Leaders are trained and mentored by AFRAN and the Embassy team.

🔹 What You’ll Gain

Becoming an AFRAN Youth Engagement Leader offers many benefits:

  • Develop leadership and project management skills.

  • Gain public speaking and event organisation experience.

  • Build a strong international network across academia, diplomacy, and innovation.

  • Receive mentorship from the Embassy and AFRAN team.

  • Free membership with the French-Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FACCI), including access to exclusive events.

It’s a great addition to your CV and a rewarding opportunity to make a real impact in the Franco-Australian community.

🔹 Who Can Apply?

We’re looking for students and early-career professionals who:

  • Have completed at least their second year of university;

  • Are familiar with (or have experience in) the French higher education and research system;

  • Ideally have some French language skills;

  • Have a strong sense of initiative, community spirit, and interest in volunteering.

Positions are available across all Australian states and territories — as well as in France, the Pacific, and the Indian Ocean.

🔹 How to Apply

📅 Deadline: 26 November 2025

Send your application by email to education.canberra-amba@diplomatie.gouv.fr. Please include:

  • A short (max. one-page) statement explaining why you’d like to become a Youth Engagement Leader;
