Hydrogen technologies - French Call for projects now open!

The French National Strategy for the Development of Low-Carbon Hydrogen, scheduled for 2020-2030, is based on three priorities:

  1. Decarbonize the industry by creating a French electrolysis industry with 6.5 GW of electrolysers installed in 2030;

  2. Develop heavy mobility with low-carbon hydrogen;

  3. Support research, innovation and skills development to foster the uses of tomorrow.

The Programme and Research Equipment Priority (PEPR) is designed to support upstream R&D activities at the highest global level, in support of industry in the sector and meeting the priorities defined in the framework of the national strategy. Targeted projects have already been identified and built within this framework and are being launched.

In addition to these targeted projects, PEPR launches a first call for projects, covering five axes:

  1. Low Temperature Water Electrolysis (EBT)

  2. Hydrogen production by photo(electro)catalysis

  3. Hydrogen combustion

  4. Storage of hydrogen in liquid medium and in the form of ammonia

  5. Integration of PEM (Proton Exchange Membrane) into systems for heavy transport applications.

A project can only be positioned on one axis. The duration of the projects will be between 3 and 5 years for axes 1, 2, 4 and 5 and between 3 and 4 years for axis 3. This call is intended to support consortia of public research teams. The aid requested may not be less than €600 K.
