[OPPORTUNITY] Pacific Funds 2027 is now open to application

The Permanent Secretariat for the Pacific (Secrétariat Permanent pour le Pacifique – SPP) has launched the 2027 main call for projects under the Pacific Fund (Fonds Pacifique).

📅 Applications must be submitted by 31 December 2026.

The Pacific Fund is one of France’s key instruments for regional cooperation in the Pacific. Funded by the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, it supports economic, social and cultural cooperation projects that strengthen the regional integration of New Caledonia, French Polynesia and Wallis and Futuna.

In 2026, the Fund had an overall budget of approximately XPF 225.6 million (AUD 3 million) and contributed to the funding of 54 projects, including 13 submitted by New Caledonia.

Priority areas for 2027

Projects are particularly encouraged in areas aligned with the Pacific Community’s 2022–2031 Strategic Plan and the Pacific Islands Forum’s 2050 Strategy for the Blue Pacific Continent, including:

  • climate resilience;

  • food security;

  • sustainable economic development;

  • public health;

  • protection of natural resources;

  • connectivity and social development;

  • sports cooperation, particularly in the lead-up to the 2027 Pacific Games;

  • projects supporting inward mobility to the French Pacific territories, with particular attention to Small Island States;

  • promotion of the French language and Francophonie; and

  • initiatives supporting youth engagement, including through international solidarity volunteering.

A strong focus on regional partnerships

To be eligible, projects must involve at least one of the three French Pacific territories – New Caledonia, French Polynesia or Wallis and Futuna – in partnership with an independent Pacific Island country.

This makes the Pacific Fund a particularly relevant opportunity for organisations seeking to build or strengthen regional research, innovation, education, cultural, environmental and economic collaborations across the Pacific.

Who can apply?

Funding is open to a broad range of organisations whose projects align with the objectives of the Pacific Fund, including institutions, associations, public administrations, organisations and businesses.

The Pacific Fund operates on a co-funding basis, and its contribution cannot exceed 50% of the project’s total budget.

Applicants should carefully review the official guidelines and ensure that their application is complete. Applications must use the required project form and budget annex.

Key information

Deadline: 31 December 2026Funding: Up to 50% of the total project budget

For organisations and researchers across the French-Australian and wider Pacific community, this call provides an opportunity to develop concrete regional partnerships and projects addressing some of the Pacific’s shared challenges. AFRAN encourages its members and partners to explore this opportunity and connect across the network to develop collaborative proposals for 2027. Please don't hesitate to reach out to the team if you'd like AFRAN to take part as an organisation in your project.
