to the French in the "Indo-Pacific"

France's foreign economic, political and cultural presence in the Pacific from the French East India Company of the late 1600s to current discussion of the "Indo-Pacific". Professor Robert Aldrich, Professor of European History at the University of Sydney is the author of a two-volume study of France in the Pacific, as well as studies of the French over seas territories and various other aspects of colonial history.

This online Symposium offers a comprehensive overview of contemporary research in the field of French-Australian relations. The papers cover a broad range of political, cultural and historical topics, from the early history of French-Australian relations to the contemporary diplomatic rapprochement in the Pacific in the context of an encroaching China.

There isno registration fee but participants should ensure they are ISFAR members for 2021.
